Amity, ME - Fatal Residential Fire on Emily Dr Under Inquiry
Amity, ME (November 24, 2024) – The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire in Amity that took place on Saturday afternoon, November 23, per local authorities who responded to the site.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department to a report of a structure fire around 2:30 p.m. The fire was located at 44 Emily Drive in Amity. The Houlton Fire Department, which also reported to the scene, found the building heavily damaged by fire.
The Fire Marshal’s Office later located human remains amongst the debris, officials with the Maine Department of Public Safety confirmed on Sunday. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time, however, and no further details were released as the inquiry remains ongoing.
