Freeport, ME – Four Hospitalized in Rollover Crash on I-295 at MM 19

Freeport, ME (September 27, 2024) – A crash on Interstate 295 brought traffic to a standstill on Friday morning, September 27, according to local authorities.

The crash happened at about 6:55 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway between mile markers 19 and 20. By 8:30 a.m., traffic was backed up for about three miles, with traffic reported to be at a near standstill all the way south of the Exit 17 ramp. State Police said the driver of a white GMC work van was involved in a rollover wreck that occurred shortly before police arrived.

One driver and three of the four passengers involved in the crash were taken to Maine Medical Center with what police said were non-life-threatening injuries. Per officers, there was no indication that alcohol played a role in the crash; however, an investigation is still ongoing in the meantime.
