Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family members.

Pedestrian Accidents in Maine

Pedestrian accidents result in the most severe injuries and frequent occurrences of fatalities on our roadways. After all, the human body cannot bear the force of concrete or steel hurdling towards them, sometimes at speeds of more than 30 miles per hour. Across Maine and other states, where reliance on motor cars as the dominant mode of transportation has grown, pedestrian accidents pose a severe threat. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics, 65,000 pedestrians are hurt in collisions yearly.

Passenger vehicle drivers and pedestrians alike are required by law to use caution. That said, even the most cautious pedestrian is less visible and more likely to be hurt than an average motorist. Unfortunately, speed bumps or flashing lights do not shield pedestrians from careless drivers. For this reason, motorists are more likely to be judged at fault in collisions involving pedestrians. This is one of many reasons why you must speak with a knowledgeable accident attorney after being hurt or losing your loved one to the actions of a negligent motorist in a pedestrian collision.
