Palmyra, ME - Man Dies, Several Hurt in I-95 Accident at MM 155

Palmyra, ME (October 24, 2024) – Maine State Police troopers are investigating a crash on Interstate 95 in Palmyra that led to one death and several other crashes.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Bangor Regional Communications Center was notified of a crash near mile marker 155 northbound on I-95, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss. A man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Moss, and speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

Multiple other vehicles were involved in the crash, leading to chain-reaction collisions in the left passing lane. Unknown injuries were reported from drivers involved in the additional crashes, but it's unclear how many were hospitalized. The northbound travel lanes were shut down for more than two hours following the crash; however, the incident still remains under investigation.
