Pittsfield, ME – One Injured in Box Truck Accident on I-95 at MM 148
Pittsfield, ME (August 30, 2024) – One person was injured, and traffic on Interstate 95 was restricted to one lane on Thursday after a box truck and tractor-trailer collided on the highway, authorities confirmed.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss, the box truck was traveling north in the right lane near mile marker 148 and slowed to almost a stop. The driver of a tractor-trailer traveling behind the box truck slammed into it, resulting in both trucks veering into a ditch beside the road.
Moss said that the tractor-trailer had gone off the roadway and jackknifed. She also confirmed that the travel lane was shut down due to the removal of the box truck and the tractor-trailer unit, and officers further added that I-95’s travel lane was closed for about four hours after the crash. In the meantime, the sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his loved ones in hopes of his full recovery.

Large trucks such as commercial autos, some city vehicles, semis, 18-wheelers, tractors-trailers, big rigs, and others can weigh as much as 80,000 pounds.
