As this is the beginning of a new year, keep in mind that among assets of a bankruptcy debtor are tax refunds that may be due from the previous year. As this month goes on, we will break this down in more detail, but for now remember the timing of when you file a bankruptcy petition is important in determining what money or property a bankruptcy trustee could require you to pay. It may make sense to delay your bankruptcy filing until after you have received and spent your refund from the previous year. Stay posted for more information to be revealed next Tuesday!
