Carl McCue, Esq.

Carl McCue obtained his B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Maine in 1976 and went on to study at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law. He then graduated from the University of Maine School of Law in Portland in 1979. Carl is licensed to practice law in the State of Maine and was admitted to the US District Court and District of Maine in 1980. 

Carl enjoys basketball, karate, farming, his work, and, most of all, his family. Carl has always been known to assist and help those that are less fortunate.

Debra McCue, Esq.

Debra McCue obtained her B.A. in Business at the University of Maine in Orono. She also participated in a Master’s Program for Social Work at the University of Connecticut. She obtained her J.D. in 1997 from the New England School of Law, and became a role model at the school and an example to women who have young children. She is proud of showing others that a career in law is attainable for mothers. 

Debbie, a mother of five children, would board a plane in Bangor, at 6:20am and fly to Boston three times a week to attend classes. And she would return home in time for dinner, baths, and bedtime. Deb McCue was also an accomplished member of the Robinson Ballet for nearly 20 years.

Laura Goldsmith, Esq.

Laura graduated from Wheaton College with her B.A. degree in 2003 and went on to earn her law degree from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis in 2009. She grew up in mid-coast Maine and returned to the area after graduating from law school. 

She began practicing law in Maine in 2012 with a firm that specializes in Securities and Corporate Law. Laura joined McCue Law Office as a Social Security attorney in the spring of 2014. Outside of working at our law firm, she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her friends and family.

James Wholly, Esq.

Jim Wholly has substantial experience representing debtors in bankruptcy cases under Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13. 

He obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 1980. He then served as a first lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps from 1980 to 1984. He earned his J.D. and graduated cum laude in his 1997 Boston College Law School class. 

James worked as an attorney and partner at the Bangor law firm of Gross, Minsky & Mogul from 1987 until 2002, primarily practicing in the area of bankruptcy. From 2002 until 2016, he served as a career law clerk to Bankruptcy Court Judges Kornreich (2002 to 2015) and Fagone (2015 to 2016). He was also a judge advocate in the Maine Air National Guard from 1990 until 2013, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. 

Jim joined McCue Law Office in September, 2016.
